Peter Bonutti, MD recognized by Illinois Rural Health Association
Dr. Peter Bonutti recently was honored by the Illinois Rural Health Association with a “Rural Physician of Excellence Award”. He was one of eleven physician who received this honor statewide for going above and beyond the call of duty to provide healthcare to rural and underserved residents throughout the State of Illinois. The ceremony was held in Springfield on Sept. 15, 2009.



Local Artists Honored and Juried Art Showcase Now Open To Public
Effingham area artists receive awards for entries in the Effingham Art Guild Juried Art Show. Nearly 100 pieces of art are now on display at Bonutti Clinic. July 2, 2009 (Effingham, IL) – The annual Effingham Art Guild Juried Art Show is now on display at Bonutti Clinic, located at 1303 West Evergreen Avenue in Effingham, IL. The 2009 display, which showcases 99 paintings this year, is open to the public for viewing at Bonutti Clinic Monday through Friday during business hours.

	Metal on Metal Surface Arthroplasty of the Hip Only 24 Surgeons Nationally Surface Arthroplasty is an exciting new procedure being introduced by Dr. Daniel Dethmers of Bonutti Clinic. Presently there are only two sites in Illinois where this procedure is available. As an international leader in Joint Replacement, Bonutti Clinic is proud to be one of the first National sites to offer this procedure.
Surface Arthroplasty of the hip combines two of the major technological trends in joint replacement. The use of very low wear "hard bearings" and minimally invasive surgery. Surface arthroplasty uses a super hard, extremely polished metal bearing surface. This has a volumetric wear rate of < 1% of a conventional metal on polyethylene total hip. It is a technology that has proven itself in wide use in Europe and Australia. In both of these markets, the surface arthroplasty has had great success in restoring near normal function in the most demanding group of patients - young active adults. Surface replacement of the hip is minimally invasive. Hip surface replacement conserves the normal bone of the femur and pelvis to a much greater degree than conventional total hip replacement. Because the natural anatomy of the hip is preserved, the surface replacement has a more natural "feel" and stability than a conventional total hip replacement. Long-lasting, better stability, feel and function - surface hip arthroplasty is a major advance in hip replacement surgery. Surface arthroplasty is best suited for patients without severe deformity or shortening and is ideally suited for the younger active patient with hip arthritis.
